Environmental Sustainability Survey Launched as part of Council’s Top Tier Strategy
An important resident consultation focussing on environmental sustainability goes live today.
Environmental Sustainability is based on the principle that our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment. By living sustainably, it means we in Kirklees shall be creating and maintaining the conditions under which humans and nature exist in productive harmony to support present and future generations. This consultation aims to gather current thoughts and opinions from residents to establish both an overarching vision statement for this strategy, as well as an understanding of the aspects residents believe the main objectives need to focus on.
The consultation will run for two weeks from 30 November, and the information gathered will complement the Climate Change consultation which took place in early summer. The results of the Climate Change consultation have already fed into the Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP), which officially launches next week alongside a film animation and revamped web pages. The Environment Sustainability consultation differs in its focus, looking more broadly at other environmental issues such as waste, biodiversity, habitat loss and pollution.
