We have renewed anti-social behaviour measures
We have reviewed all nine active Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) following a public consultation.
What are PSPO’s?
PSPOs are used by Local Authorities as a tool to tackle certain anti-social behaviours that can have a negative effect on the quality of life of communities.
Kirklees residents were invited to share their views on the current PSPOs that are in place across the district to ensure public spaces can be safely enjoyed by all.
The nine active PSPOs currently in place were introduced in 2017 and cover a number of issues from the prevention of fires and BBQs on public land, street drinking and people leaving dog mess. All nine will be renewed in their current form following overwhelming support from residents and will continue until 2026.
Cllr Naheed Mather, Cabinet Member for the Environment, said:
“Thank you to all who took time to take part in our consultation, I’m delighted that we have the support of the community in taking measures to ensure our public and green spaces are safe for all to enjoy.
“We will continue to work with partners at West Yorkshire Fire Service and West Yorkshire Police as well as local landowners, Safer Kirklees and our enforcement teams to achieve our shared aim of tackling antisocial behaviour.”
