School’s (nearly) Out – see what’s on offer

A wide range of activities will be on offer for Kirklees children and young people throughout the summer holidays.

The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme will help children to stay active and healthy, boosting their mental and physical wellbeing.

It is organised by Kirklees Council, along with partners and community groups. Sessions will run across the district and will include free food.

HAF activities are for children and young people who receive free school meals, while paid-for places are also available for non-eligible families.

Our holiday activities web page contains more details, including information about the activities in your local area.

HAF activities are part of the wider School’s Out scheme, which includes sessions that are open to everyone. The same web page provides links to what’s available, such as fun sessions involving arts and crafts, cookery, sport and music.

Cllr Carole Pattison, Cabinet member for Learning, Aspiration and Communities, said:

“Our Holiday Activities and Food Programme has a huge positive impact for people across Kirklees.

“It helps those who need it most, which is so important when the cost of living crisis has made life incredibly tough.

“We work closely with local groups to make sure there’s something for everyone and a great choice across different areas.

“The range of activities, combined with food, means our children and young people can be happy, healthy and fed during the long summer holidays.

“The HAF programme is one of many ways that the council breaks down barriers and aims to give every child the best start in life.

“We encourage everyone who’s eligible to see what’s on offer and make the most of these opportunities. This is a fantastic way to support local families.”
