Shaping Our Community’s Future: The Dewsbury Batley Chidswell Consultation

Your Voice, Your Community, Your Future.
Have your say on the Dewsbury-Batley-Chidswell Travel Corridor consultation.
In 2022, we embarked on a journey to bring about positive changes in Dewsbury, Batley, and Chidswell. We asked for your feedback on proposals to enhance walking, cycling, and public transport in our community. Your invaluable insights have led us to the third round of the Dewsbury Batley Chidswell Consultation, and we couldn’t be more excited!
Community-Powered Progress
The heart of this project lies in the community. Last year, your voices echoed through our streets and corridors, we listened, we learned, and most importantly, we acted. Your feedback sparked revisions, and now we’re inviting you to have a say in the next phase.
What’s in Store?
This third round of consultation introduces some fantastic enhancements to the Bradford Road part of the scheme:
Two-way cycle lane on Bradford Road
Cycle-Friendly Initiatives: Imagine a safer, greener commute! We’re rolling out a two-way segregated cycle lane on Bradford Road, alongside shared use sections for pedestrians and cyclists. Your path to healthier transport choices just got smoother!
Resident parking preserved
Resident Parking: For those concerned about parking, worry not! We’re retaining existing on-street parking for residents on Bradford Road between Rink Street and Grafton Street.
Westbound cycle path on Alexandra Road
A westbound cycle path on Alexandra Road between Grange Road and Bradford Road.
Safety improvements on side roads
Safety First: Safety is paramount! Four side roads will see one-way sections, boosting pedestrian and cyclist safety, while new signal-controlled pedestrian crossings will make crossing streets a breeze.
Upgraded signals & bus priority
Public Transport Upgrades: Upgraded traffic signals, with bus priority, and real-time information at bus stops will improve public transport efficiency, making your daily commute more convenient.
Your Opportunity to Shape the Future
In this third round of consultation, we’re seeking your views, your ideas, and your aspirations. We aim to create a safer, more accessible, and attractive environment for people to walk, cycle, and take public transport. Your input is the driving force behind these changes!
