Time is running out to nominate your Recycling Hero!

Kirklees Recycling Hero Awards

There are just days to go before the nominations for the second annual Recycling Hero Awards close.

What are we looking for?

We are asking residents to celebrate the sustainable superstars from across the borough, including friends, family members, colleagues, young people, schools, or businesses who are setting the benchmark when it comes to reducing, reusing, and recycling in Kirklees.

There are five separate categories that people or organisations can be nominated in, those being, Recycling Hero, Young Recycling Hero, School Recycling Hero, Business Recycling Hero, and Recycling Champion Hero.

What happens next?

This year, the shortlisted nominees will be invited to Dewsbury Town Hall on 22 November for the awards evening. On the evening, the winners will be announced with awards for winners and runners-up presented by the Mayor.

Councillor Yusra Hussain, Cabinet Member for Culture and Greener Kirklees, said:

“There have been some fantastic nominations so far this year with inspiring individuals and businesses from across the district being recognised by their friends and colleagues.

“There is just over one week left before the 20 October nomination deadline, so there is still plenty of time to make someone’s day and nominate your Recycling Hero!”

How to nominate

Anyone wishing to submit a nomination needs to fill out a short online form, including a statement of no more than 200 words to explain why your nominee should win one of the five awards. Nominations close on 20 October, no nominations will be accepted after this date.
