Festive line up announced for Huddersfield Christmas Lights Switch On

The fun-filled lineup has been confirmed for the 2023 Huddersfield Christmas Lights switch-on event on Saturday 18 November.
St Georges Square will become a hive of festive activities with live music, a Christmas Market, family entertainment, creative workshops, pretend snow, and real-life reindeer.
The Christmas lights will be switched on at 6 pm by the Mayor of Kirklees, Councillor Cahal Burke, with help from Cinderella pantomime characters from Lawrence Batley Theatre.
This is the full program for the day’s events:
Christmas Market – 11 am till 6.30 pm
The Christmas Market will feature over 60 stalls featuring the best local artisan makers as well as festive food and refreshments.
Kirklees Year of Music Stage – 1 pm till 6 pm
The Kirklees Year of Music stage will showcase the best local talent from across the district.
- 1 pm- Michael Buble tribute act
- 1.45 pm- One Voice Choir
- 2.50 pm- Jimbo Lynch
- 3.30 pm- Hade Edge Brass Band
- 4 pm- Highway 62
- 5 pm- Lawrence Batley Theatre Panto characters
- 5.15 pm- Kirsty Newton’s Festive Sing-along
- 6 pm- Christmas Lights Switch On
Creative Workshops – 1 pm till 5 pm
Families can get crafty with screen printing, lantern making and homemade Christmas Decorations.

- Screen printing with West Yorkshire Print Workshop
- Christmas felt badges and tree hangers with Crafty Baggage
Reindeers – 1 pm till 5 pm
Meet real-life reindeer as they take a break from their Christmas deliveries to visit Huddersfield.
Family entertainment – 1 pm – 6 pm
There will be lots happening throughout the day including an inflatable snow globe for selfie fun, face painting, fairground rides, and walkabout characters.
The Christmas Lights Switch On – 6 pm
The finale will be the Huddersfield Christmas lights Switch On at 6pm by the Mayor of Kirklees, Councillor Cahil Burke who will be joined on stage by characters from the cast of Lawrence Batley Theatre Cinderella Pantomime and the host and MC for the day, Mikey Shiraz from Parish, Huddersfield.
Councillor Yusra Hussain, Cabinet Member for Culture and Greener Kirklees, said:
“Despite the difficult financial challenges faced by the council, we want to give residents the opportunity to gather as a community to celebrate the Christmas season.
“I’m delighted that we can once again offer a fun-filled festive event that showcases the best talent and artisan producers that Kirklees has to offer and is free for all to enjoy.”
