We are asking the public for their views on the Station to Stadium Enterprise Corridor. The scheme relates to the area from Huddersfield Train Station, along Northumberland Street and Leeds Road, to the Stadium.

Investment from the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) will make Huddersfield one of the best-connected places in the North of England. The University of Huddersfield’s investment in the Health Innovation Campus at Southgate will put the town on the map globally in terms of translational health and wellbeing research and applied applications. Also, the Station to Stadium scheme will build on these assets and will act as a key investment, creating a corridor for enterprise.

Proposed work is supported by an approach for improved connectivity and urban greening. Aiming to grow and attract good quality jobs and businesses in Huddersfield for the benefit of the whole district.

Plans for the enterprise corridor are in their early stages, but the public are welcomed to comment on the areas of the project that they see as top priorities and what else they would like to see delivered.

Councillor Graham Turner, Cabinet Member for Finance & Regeneration, says:

“This level of long-term investment in our town centre is integral to the growth and development of Huddersfield and the whole of Kirklees.

This is a huge step in our long-term project which is set to bring an abundance of new high-tech, highly skilled jobs and businesses to our town centre and in turn boost the economy of Kirklees alongside the huge regeneration works of the Huddersfield Blueprint.

Public opinion on this development is important to the success of the enterprise corridor, I would urge public to be involved in this consultation process.”

The public consultation runs from 8 November to 8 December 2023.
