Christmas Treecycling – an effortless way to support our hospices
Did you know you could help two much-loved local hospices by arranging for your Christmas tree to be collected and recycled? All from the comfort of your own home!
We’re supporting The Kirkwood and Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice to give your real Christmas tree a new lease of life and extend the goodwill of the season.
Get involved
By arranging a no-hassle tree collection, you can dispose of your tree ecologically whilst helping to raise essential funds for two charities that support children and adults with life-limiting illnesses.
We will be providing vans and staff for each charity to help with the collections, as well as chipping the trees so they’re ready for reuse.
Last year over 3,500 Christmas trees were recycled in Kirklees, raising £48,000 for the charities. The trees collected were turned into wood chippings to be used as top dressings on soil in local parks, sports fields, and farms, while some were used as biomass for green heating.
Councillor Yusra Hussain, Cabinet Member for the Environment, said:
“We’re delighted to be supporting our two Kirklees Hospices for the sixth year running with their tree collection campaigns. Tree recycling has a positive effect on our environment as we work towards our Net Zero goal, and vital funds are raised to help people in our community.
“This year we hope to collect and recycle even more, which will result in fewer trees being inappropriately discarded or fly-tipped and valuable nutrients being put back into the earth, not to mention considerable funds raised for two very important local Hospices.”
Each charity is slightly different but for a donation of around £10 you’ll not only have your tree collected but you will also help to fund their vital work.
