Could you inspire children and young people by becoming a teacher?
Our acclaimed teacher training programme and is now recruiting for its next course.
Kirklees and Calderdale School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) has a proven track record of producing high-quality teachers who go on to work in local schools.
Trainees benefit from working in a school right from the start, gaining first-hand classroom experience instead of being based in a Higher Education setting.
There are two online events coming up where you can hear all about the course and the ways it will help you embark on an exciting new journey into teaching.
They are on February 28th and March 19th (both at 4pm). To book your place, or find out more information, simply email kcscitt@kirklees.gov.uk or call the team on 01484 221177.
SCITT is rated as ‘good’ by Ofsted and has many years’ experience in offering placements across different areas. You will be in school from day one, learning from teachers and putting your skills into practice right from the start.

Chloe Cremmins (pictured) became a teacher through Kirklees and Calderdale SCITT. Chloe now teaches English and said:
“The course provided me with information, confidence and a network of teachers to support my training.
“The careful selection of placement schools ensured my training has been effective and I have felt supported throughout the course. SCITT has nurtured my enthusiasm to teach and developed my practice.”
Sarah Passmore, who works in a primary school, said:
“To have the opportunity to be supported and guided by an outstanding school and training family has been invaluable. I have been not only nurtured but challenged to be the best possible teacher I can be. I feel I have established a firm foundation.”
Cllr Elizabeth Reynolds, Cabinet member for Learning and Aspiration, said:
“High-quality teachers make a lasting impact on young lives and can inspire long-term success and happiness. It is a council priority for children and young people across Kirklees to achieve well, fulfil their potential and enjoy the best start in life.
“As a former teacher myself, I know the value of excellent training. Our programme ensures people are fully prepared for the classroom and ready to thrive in this wonderful profession.”
