Intern opportunities available through Project Search

Project SEARCH

We’ve some exciting, supported intern opportunities for those aged 18-24 with learning difficulties, who are interested in working. To find out all about them, pop along to our open evening this May.

Many young people with additional needs have already found long term employment through the Project SEARCH internships which offer real work experience, combined with training and independent living skills.

Come and see us this May

We’re having an open evening for anyone who’d like to find out more on 8 May 2024 at Dewsbury Town Hall, WF12 8DG, from 4pm to 6pm.

It’s an opportunity for anyone who’s interested to come and meet our friendly team who’ll be on-hand to explain more about the intern programme and answer your questions.

Everyone welcome. There is no need to book.

About the internships

We’ve teamed up with Kirklees College, REAL Employment and the national initiative, DFN Project SEARCH to offer young adults with learning disability and/or autism an opportunity to gain skills needed in a real work environment and achieve paid employment.

As well as work experience, the 12 month internship includes training and independent living skills like team building, travel and preparing for work.

This programme runs from September 2024 to June 2025 and is based at Dewsbury District Hospital. Interns must be keen to work and:

  • aged 18-24, and live in Kirklees
  • have a learning disability or Autism, and
  • have a current Education, Health and Caree Plan (EHCP)
