Mirfield Library local history display and talks

Talks featuring local history themes to celebrate Heritage Open Days along with a local history display including books and photographs.

Mirfield Masonic Lodge

A unique opportunity to have a look around Mirfield Masonic Lodge, formed in 1866 and steeped in history. You will be able to have a look around, and see the temple, the past master’s room, with the roll of honour of all the past Masters!

St Paul’s Mirfield

A Victorian town centre church with a wow factor. Built for the working man in Eastthorpe. This is the last chance to see the beautiful stained glass windows and unique exhibition tower clock. The church will close permanently on 8 September.

Trinity Methodist Church

This is an opportunity to look around a beautiful Victorian Yorkshire Church; and experience Trinity’s historic organ.

West Yorkshire Print Workshop Open Studios

Discover the world of printmaking at West Yorkshire Print Workshop! Learn about endangered heritage crafts such as letterpress printing and see behind the scenes with open doors to some of their print facilities and studios.

Spen Valley Heritage Waymarkers

MP Kim Leadbeater will unveil 3 old waymarkers restored & repaired by Spen Valley Civic Society (SVCS), at three local sites, and we’ll tell you about their history.

A display of Spen Valley Routes, Networks and Connections – from Roman Roads to Motorways – Trains, Trams, Turnpikes and Pathways. Music from Musica Mirfield Senior Wind Band and a Transport Quiz and Nature Trail for children.

Roberttown Community Centre

Past Present & Future open day to celebrate the centre’s rich history and dynamic present, with a look towards the exciting plans for the future.

St Mary the Blessed Virgin

Grade II listed church, refurbished. Sculpture by Peter Eugene Ball and three Robert Thompson (Mouseman) items. Grave of Mary Taylor, a friend of Charlotte Brontë.

St Peter’s Church, Hartshead with Hightown

A chance to see old registers and local memorabilia in the wonderful setting of St Peter’s Church, Hartshead. This is a Brontë Church, where Rev’d Patrick served as curate in charge. There are also links with the Luddites and Robin Hood.
