Get confident with numbers with our free Multiply short maths courses
If you struggle with numeracy or would like to improve your confidence with numbers, we are here to help.
Adults aged 19-plus can gain free access to Multiply, various refresher courses that aim to boost people’s ability to use maths in their daily life, at home and work.
That may be improving household finances, helping children with homework, making more sense of facts in the media or improving numeracy skills for better employment prospects.
Cllr Amanda Pinnock, Cabinet Member for Education and Communities, said:
“This initiative is designed to empower individuals by enhancing their numeracy skills. It will help people to be more confident with numbers – an important skill that impacts many areas of our lives
“These short maths courses are part of our lifelong learning offer, which provides opportunities outside of formal learning environments. We support hundreds of adult learners across Kirklees and this is another great addition.”
Dipika, Shashi and Tejaswi are three friends who signed up to Multiply – Bridge the Gap in Your Maths, with the intention of improving their maths to support their children.
Dipika said:
”I wasn’t too sure how to best support my child with maths and I needed any learning to fit in with school hours and my other commitments.
“I have since gone on to complete a Functional Skills Maths course and I am now studying for my Maths GCSE. I am enjoying the experience and it was all made possible after I first signed up with the council.”
Courses start in November
The Multiply: Maths Skills for Life courses start in November and interest is now being registered. They are funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
