Kirklees Council’s REAL Employment service has received accreditation from the British Association of Supported Employment (BASE) recognising their dedication to supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism who are looking for work.

Following the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) model and embracing the core values of supported employment, REAL Employment ensures that individuals receive the best possible assistance to find, maintain, and excel in jobs that match their skills and strengths.

REAL Employment supports adults aged 18+ with learning disabilities, autism, and/or additional needs in securing employment. They match individuals’ interests and skills to suitable job opportunities, providing, personalised support throughout the job search and employment process.

Councillor Beverley Addy, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health said:

“REAL Employment has been supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism for over 30 years and it is important that we continue to enable these adults to become financially independent wherever possible.

“We have a very dedicated team that provides one-to-one support for some of our more vulnerable residents to find suitable employment in areas that can support their needs. This accreditation from BASE is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the REAL Employment team and their dedication to supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism in finding meaningful employment is truly commendable.”

REAL Employment’s Huddersfield team recently relocated to Civic Centre 3 on Market Street, but they continue to serve the community from their offices at Dewsbury Town Hall.

Anyone aged 18+, who lives in Kirklees and has a learning disability and/or autism, can contact REAL Employment for help with finding paid employment.
