The strategy will focus on four key issues

  • Develop a transport network that will make it easier for people to get around and provide greater access to more opportunities.
  • Develop our streets and spaces so people in Kirklees feel safe, happy and healthy.
  • Support the council Net Zero vision by 2038 by reducing harmful emissions.
  • Capitalise on existing local and regional investments and maximise the impact.

Councillor Crook, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Transport said:

“As a council, we are committed to delivering a transport strategy that enhances mobility for residents, reduces congestion and supports our ambition to become Net Zero by 2038. We need to hear the views of Kirklees residents in order to deliver an effective transport strategy shaped by our communities.

“It’s imperative we have a greater understanding of how residents feel about their journeys and the impact it has on their everyday lives so we can deliver an accessible, safe and sustainable transport network.

“The results of the consultation will help shape a transport strategy that will endeavour to improve links between our towns and villages, addressing our environmental, social and economic priorities and enhance our local economy, making a generational change.”
