Repair works started following major landslip

Dalton Bank Road

Repair works to Dalton Bank Road in Huddersfield have started this week following a landslip last year.

Due to the nature and location of the landslip the council’s Highway’s team have carried out extensive investigation working closely with a geotechnical groundworks specialist to investigate the cause and determine a solution.

The proposed works are expected to take approximately ten weeks. The highway will remain closed to vehicles while engineers carry out the construction of a gravity burr wall which will support the highway where the landslip happened.

Councillor Munir Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Environment and Highways said:

“Our highways engineers, working with specialist contractors have developed a viable, safe and long-term solution which will allow Dalton Bank Road to fully reopen in Spring.

“We would like to thank residents and business owners in the area for their patience and understanding during the extended road closure and whilst these key repair works take place and apologise for any further inconvenience caused.”

The current vehicle diversion will remain in place pending completion of the works. Pedestrians and cyclists will continue to have access around the site on Dalton Bank Road during the works. Residents will still be able to access their homes from Nettleton Road and Bog Green Lane.

Residents are asked to contact Highways Customer Care on 01484 221000 or email Highways.Maintenance@kirklees.gov.uk if they have further questions or comments.
