Kirklees residents offered cutting-edge ‘Smoke Free’ app to make quitting easier
Kirklees residents now have access to a cutting-edge app to make quitting smoking easier.
This Smoke Free app helps users take control of their health and start their journey towards a smoke-free life. In addition, the app includes personalised quit plans, motivational content, and access to a supportive community.
Motivational content includes a real time tracker that shows users how much money they are saving. Quitters can also collect success badges at key stages in their smoke free journey.
The app makes getting support from experts quicker and easier with live chat options, group clinics and access to nicotine replacement therapies included.
You can download the app on both iOS and Android devices. The app is completely free for Kirklees residents to use, they just need to set up an account and enter a Kirklees postcode.
Councillor Beverley Addy, Cabinet Member for Public Health said:
“I know quitting smoking can be tough. Finding the right support can make all the difference.
“Existing routes might not suit everyone so it is important to consider new ways to help people to make this life changing decision.
“By offering this exciting new digital tool we hope to empower more people to begin their smokefree journey.
“You will feel the benefits of stopping smoking from the start. On the inside your body will be thanking you too. After just a few weeks lung function increases by up to 10% and circulation improves. Then, after one year the risk of a heart attack is half that of a smoker.
“The smoke-free app is one of many tools in the wide range of free stop smoking support services available in Kirklees.”
To access the app visit getmesmokefree.com. Alternatively, you can search for ‘Smoke Free’ in your app store.
