Could you ‘Win a Shop’ in Dewsbury’s soon-to-be-reopened Arcade?
The Arcade Group have just shared a unique opportunity for one independent business to become part of the future of Dewsbury town centre, completely rent-free for a year.
The competition is being run and fully funded by the Arcade Group, who will manage the arcade once it reopens in Spring 2026, following restoration by Kirklees Council.
The ‘Win a Shop’ at the arcade competition will offer one standout independent business a free unit in the revamped arcade for a full year, giving them the chance to grow in one of the most iconic and characterful buildings in the town.
Chris Hill, Development Director at the Arcade Group, said:
“The Arcade Dewsbury is being designed to be a thriving hub, and independent businesses are key to creating that unique character and fostering a strong sense of community. This competition is our way of investing directly in local talent and helping a business truly flourish.”
From artisan food and handcrafted goods to vintage finds and wellness services, the organisers are looking for businesses that will bring variety, flair and community spirit to the scheme, supporting the broader ambition for a more vibrant and varied offer in Dewsbury town centre.;

This competition is not run or funded by Kirklees Council; it’s an independent initiative led and funded by the Arcade Group. However, we’re proud to support their vision, which aligns with our ambition to make the arcade a thriving space where local small businesses and creatives can flourish. The scheme plays a key role in our long-term regeneration plans for Dewsbury town centre, helping to attract investment, spark interest and create new opportunities for the town and beyond.
