Kirklees has an incredibly creative industry, with amazing artists and musicians making waves far and wide.  But did you know we work with local creative businesses and entrepreneurs to help them succeed, and push for more funding for local creators?

Right now local organisation Saving Grace Collective – an organisation we work with regularly, who care deeply about helping more talented people break into the music industry – is putting on Kirklees Most Wanted, which is all about promoting local musicians.

What is Kirklees Most Wanted?

Kirklees Most Wanted provides opportunities for musicians to get their music out there through free promotion and exposure, and to make useful connections with local venues and businesses, as well as other like-minded artists.

How can musicians get involved?

Kirklees Most Wanted is on the hunt for up and coming music artists, freelancers and entrepreneurs.

Through this project, Saving Grace plans to boost your profile, help you reach a wider audience and secure paid performance opportunities.  There will also be lots of networking opportunities with other musicians, industry professionals and potential collaborators.

How can businesses and venues get involved?

There are also opportunities for more local businesses and venues to get involved.  Through Kirklees Most Wanted, connected businesses will also be receiving promotion – on top of the opportunity to showcase new artists, creating a vibrant atmosphere and drawing in new music-loving customers.

Whether it’s by hosting live events or just featuring Kirklees Most Wanted’s new music playlist to your patrons, you’ll be supporting the local music industry and opening new doors for both your business and many exciting local musicians.

What other opportunities are there?

There are also lots of interesting employment and volunteering opportunities available through Kirklees Most Wanted.

All opportunities through Kirklees Most Wanted, and how to get involved, are listed on the Kirklees Most Wanted website.

Want more support?

We provide lots of support to local businesses, freelancers and entrepreneurs, including support specifically geared towards those working in the creative industry.

Perhaps you’re an incredible artist, but you’re struggling to figure out how market yourself as a freelancer.  Perhaps you want to make more connections, or know what funding might be available to your small creative business.

You can reach out to our team about support for your creative business by emailing arts.creativity@kirklees.gov.uk or get more generalised business support by emailing business.enquiries@kirklees.gov.uk

We will also continue to advocate and lobby for more funding for Kirklees’ creative industries.  The opportunities provided through Kirklees Most Wanted are being funded through the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s ‘You Can Make It Here’ programme, with further funding from the government’s PACE (Participation in the Arts and Creative Economy) project, which is all about boosting local employment, learning and personal development.
