New Ash View Extra Care housing opens in Ashbrow, Huddersfield
A brand-new Extra Care housing scheme has opened in Ashbrow, Huddersfield, giving local people more choice about how they live and get support.
Ash View is made up of 50 modern, fully accessible flats. Each flat is self-contained, so residents can enjoy their own space and independence, while also knowing that care and support are available 24 hours a day if needed.
The scheme has been developed by us, Kirklees Council, with care provided by Community Integrated Care, a national social care charity. Support is tailored to each person’s needs, whether that’s help with age-related health conditions, disabilities, or mental health.
To celebrate the opening, residents, staff, councillors and local people were invited to look around the new homes, meet the team, and see how Ash View is already making a difference.

Councillor Moses Crook, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Transport and Housing, said:
“Ash View is exactly the kind of forward-thinking design and support that people in Kirklees deserve; modern, adaptable, and at the heart of the local community. We’re proud to have partnered with Community Integrated Care to bring this scheme to life. It marks another key step in our commitment to expanding our available housing to meet demand, and our role in giving Kirklees residents the independence everyone deserves.”
Edd Terrey, Managing Director at Community Integrated Care, added:
“We’re delighted to see Ash View officially open and to celebrate with the people we support, colleagues, partners, and local people. It’s clear that the service is already becoming a thriving community, truly shaped by the people who live here, and will make a real difference to people’s lives for many years to come.”
