Oakwell Hall event marks release of new book on Brontës, with opportunity to meet the authors alongside latest exhibition

On Monday 6 October, in connection with Oakwell Hall’s new Brontë-inspired ‘Friendship’ exhibition, a new event will give locals and literature fans the chance to hear from Brontë experts on a brand new book exploring key locations in the sisters’ history – including Oakwell Hall itself.

What’s happening?

‘Let Me In: The Brontës in Bricks and Mortar’ is a brand new book which provides a behind-closed-doors look at the beautiful buildings that housed, educated and inspired the Brontë sisters, their family and friends, including several key locations in Kirklees.

The book was co-written by friends and collaborators Ann Dinsdale and Sharon Wright. Since Oakwell Hall’s new ‘Friendship’ exhibition is built on Charlotte Brontë and the influential circle of friends she made whilst studying in Mirfield, and celebrates love and friendship in Kirklees today, this connection provides the perfect opportunity for both authors to discuss their work and inspiration with the exhibition’s curator, Dr. Janine Sykes.

The event, which kicks off at 11am, will also be guests’ first opportunity to sample Oakwell Hall’s brand new Brontë-themed afternoon tea.
