Holmfirth Town Centre Access Plan – November update 2025

Holmfirth Christmas Celebrations

Here is the latest from our improvement scheme in Holmfirth town centre as we carry out essential work as we deliver the Holmfirth Blueprint and create a more accessible town centre for residents, businesses and visitors.

What’s happened recently

The team have been making the necessary preparations ahead of resurfacing the carriageway and footways on Victoria Street, Town Gate / Station Road and a section of Huddersfield Road. Much of those preparations have included repairs to damaged kerbing and installing new drainage and manhole covers on the highway – These are sometimes referred to as ironworks.

Piling work at the car park continued as planned and is due to start on Hollowgate in the coming weeks.

What’s next at a glance

The large rig which has been located at the car park, will be moved to Hollowgate to allow for piling to start. The rig will be moved overnight on Tuesday 11 November subject to Police Abnormal Load Escort.

15 November – 23 November

To keep the project on track for Spring 2026, the council has approved the contractor extending working hours and carrying out additional piling work from Saturday 15 November. We’re hopeful that working this Saturday will mitigate the need to work on 22-23 November. Thank you for your understanding as we work to complete this phase as quickly and efficiently as possible.

January 2026 – March 2026
