Huddersfield Rail Station set to close as major engineering works to continue
Rail services between Huddersfield and Leeds will be disrupted during May and June to allow work to continue on the multi-billion-pound Transpennine Route Upgrade.
Diversionary routes will be in place and journey times are expected to be altered. Where possible, customers will remain on trains, however, rail replacement bus services will be in operation where that is not possible.
Why the closures are necessary
These closures will allow for the safe delivery of critical infrastructure upgrades. These include track and drainage renewals, bridge works, signalling improvements, and significant station enhancements along the route. The series of upgrade works will help deliver faster, more frequent services on a greener, more reliable railway.
