Watch Kirklees Council appoint its new Mayor live
Residents are invited to watch Kirklees Council’s Annual Meeting live on Wednesday 20 May, where councillors will appoint the borough’s new Mayor for 2026/27.
The meeting, commonly known as “Mayor Making”, is an important moment in the civic calendar. Each year, councillors come together to formally appoint the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, who will represent Kirklees at community events and civic engagements over the next 12 months.
The meeting will be streamed live on the council’s YouTube channel, giving residents the opportunity to see local democracy in action.
