Demolition progress at Bishops Court and Holme Park Court

Berry Brow

We have made significant progress with the demolition of Bishops Court and Holme Park Court in Berry Brow. The boundary fencing has been installed with safety signs for contact details and personal protective equipment requirements now visible at the main gate. Internal fencing has also been installed to identify key areas, allowing safe access for vehicles, pedestrians and external drop zones.

What have we done?

To make sure the site is secure and safe, new security cameras have been installed around the buildings.

We have started the soft strip of the lower floors whilst recovering timber items such as doors, frames, and cupboards through each flat. Once all the timber has been removed, we will start the removal of non-load-bearing plasterboard walls.

We have removed the lift cars in each building to create internal drop chutes. We’ve also made openings for plant equipment access. These will be used for the removal of soft strip materials from floors 6 to 17.

We have had a slight delay due to the water issues at Holme Park Court. As works progressed on site, multiple water supplies were identified within the building which had not been accessible during earlier surveys.

What works come next?

There is a power generator on site to support the start of asbestos removal works. Our contractors are carrying out asbestos removal and soft strip works at the same time to help maintain programme momentum and keep overall disruption to a minimum where possible.

We expect soft strip works to be completed within the next four weeks, with the asbestos removal phase continuing for approximately 20 weeks. The contractors are carrying out the asbestos works in a controlled manner with the relevant safety standards and procedures.
