Celebrate Pride across Kirklees this summer
We are supporting three Pride events across Kirklees this summer. Funding has been shared equally between them.
Batley & Birstall Pride opens the celebrations on Sunday 28 June at Wilton Park, from 10am to 5pm. Now in its sixth year, it is a free, family-friendly day run by local volunteers, with live music, stalls, free children’s activities and a petting zoo.
Huddersfield Pride follows on Saturday 4 July at Lawrence Batley Theatre’s courtyard. The event marks 45 years since Huddersfield held one of the first Pride events outside London, in 1981. It is community-led and supported by the council’s LGBTQ+ Network.
Holmfirth Pride is on Saturday 25 July, with events across the town. Now in its second year, it returns with live music and more.
Rachel Spencer-Henshall, Deputy Chief Executive & Executive Director of Public Health and Corporate Resources, said:
“We are really pleased to support these three events. They are a great example of local communities coming together, with something for families and friends of all ages to enjoy across the summer.”
All three events are free and open to everyone. Community groups and volunteers organise the events. To find out more, follow each event on Facebook.
