Nominations open for Kirklees Recycling Hero Awards 2026
Nominations are now open for the Recycling Hero Awards 2026, as we call on residents to help celebrate the borough’s sustainability superstars.
You can nominate friends, family members, colleagues, young people, schools, community groups and businesses that are helping set the standard for reducing, reusing, and recycling in Kirklees.
Award Categories
Five awards categories return this year, Recycling Hero for the individuals making a difference, Young Recycling Hero for champions aged under 17, Business Recycling Hero for organisations that include recycling and sustainability within their strategy, the School and Youth Activity Recycling Hero open to schools, youth clubs, Scouts, Guides and other youth organisations, and returning for its second year, the Community Award, which is awarded to an individual or group making a positive difference in their community.

How to nominate your heroes
You can nominate your Recycling Heroes on our website. People should complete the short form and provide a brief statement explaining why their nominee should win an award
The deadline for nominations is Monday 30 November 2026.
Winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony at Dewsbury Town Hall where the Mayor of Kirklees, Councillor Karen Allison, will present awards to winners and runners-up.
