Kirklees Parks retain ‘Green Flag’ status
Kirklees parks and greenspaces have once again been recognised amongst the country’s best parks, retaining their Green Flag Awards.
Beaumont Park, Greenhead Park, Castle Hill, Crow Nest Park, Oakwell Hall Country Park, and Wilton Park have all been recognised. As a part of the awards, Oakwell Hall has also been recognised with a Green Heritage Site Accreditation.
These accolades are testament to the continued hard work and dedication of the Parks and Greenspaces Team along with support from volunteers and friends of parks groups.
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under contract from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
David Shepherd, Executive Director for Place at Kirklees Council, said:
