Celebrate the opening of Huddersfield’s new Library Hub and Queensgate Square
Join us for a week of free activities
To celebrate the first opening weekend, on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, visitors can enjoy live music, creative workshops, arts and crafts, skateboarding sessions, traditional games, food and drink, and a range of activities designed for all ages.
We’re inviting everyone to celebrate the opening of the new Huddersfield Library Hub and Queensgate Square with a week of free activities this September.
Opening on Monday 21 September, the new Library Hub is one of the first completed spaces in the Our Cultural Heart project, alongside the new Queensgate Square. Together, they mark an exciting new chapter in the transformation of Huddersfield town centre.
Whether you’re a regular library visitor, looking for a fun family day out or simply curious to see the new spaces, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Discover the new Library Hub
The new Library Hub is a bright, modern and welcoming space where people can read, learn, study, get creative and connect with others.
Throughout opening week, you’ll be able to explore the building, meet our library team and discover the wide range of services, facilities and activities available.
Opening weekend celebrations
The celebrations continue over the weekend of Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, when both the Library Hub and Queensgate Square will come alive with free entertainment, creativity and family-friendly activities.
Saturday at the Library Hub
The Library Hub opens from 9.30am on Saturday, with activities taking place throughout the day, including:
- Lego Club
- Chess Club
- Knit and Natter
- A family Library Adventures Trail
- Makerspace demonstrations
It’s the perfect opportunity to explore the new building and see everything it has to offer.
A weekend of fun in Queensgate Square
From 12 noon to 5pm on Saturday, and throughout Sunday, Queensgate Square will be filled with live music, arts and crafts, interactive workshops, community art activities, traditional games and a range of food and drink vendors.
It’s a chance to experience Huddersfield’s newest public space as it comes to life for the very first time.
