Connecting Carers with Support Under One Roof

Connecting Carers

Carers from across the local area came together at Knowl Park House for a dedicated information and support event designed to make it easier to access advice, services and community resources in one welcoming location. The event, coordinated and delivered by Community Plus, brought together a range of organisations committed to supporting unpaid carers and their families.

Hosted by Knowl Park House, the event provided an opportunity for carers to meet local professionals, ask questions and learn more about the support available to help them in their caring role. Attendees were also invited to tour the day care centre and assistive technology bungalow, showcasing practical support options available within the community.

Seven organisations took part in the event, including Carers Count, Admiral Nurses, CLEAR, Wellness Service, Community Plus, Support Options and Millen Care. Together, they offered information, advice and guidance covering a wide range of topics relevant to carers and those they support.

The impact of the event was felt beyond the day itself. Carers were able to access multiple support services in one place, enabling meaningful conversations and helping them explore options that could make a difference to their wellbeing and daily lives. Participating organisations reported positive engagement with attendees, with several conversations leading to positive outcomes for carers and their families.

Feedback from both attendees and partner organisations was overwhelmingly positive, with all services expressing interest in being involved in future events. The day also strengthened working relationships between Community Plus, Knowl Park House and partner organisations, creating new opportunities for collaborative working across the locality.

Reflecting on the success of the event, organisers highlighted the importance of bringing services together in trusted community venues. By making support more visible and accessible, events like this help carers access the information they need, strengthen local connections and promote a preventative, asset-based approach to wellbeing.
