Five reasons to try an organ concert at Huddersfield Town Hall
Looking for something a little different to enjoy in Huddersfield? The 2026–27 Kirklees Concert Season brings a series of organ concerts to Huddersfield Town Hall, featuring musicians from across the UK and around the world.
Here are five reasons to give one a try.
1. Hear a historic organ in action
At the heart of the concerts is Huddersfield Town Hall’s famous ‘Father’ Willis organ, which has been delighting audiences for more than 140 years.
Town Hall Organist David Pipe has invited organists from across the country and internationally to perform on the instrument, giving audiences the chance to hear its impressive range of sounds in the beautiful surroundings of the Town Hall.
2. Hear musicians from around the world
This year’s programme features organists from the UK, Denmark, France, Germany and Greece, alongside David Pipe and other familiar performers.
The season includes international artists such as French organist Emmanuel Hocdé, Greek virtuoso Eleni Keventsidou, German organist Friedhelm Flamme and Danish organist Tina Christiansen.
3. There’s something different to hear each time
The programme covers a wide range of music, from well-known composers to more unique works and arrangements.
Performances throughout the season include music by composers such as Bach, Barber, Schumann, Respighi and Gershwin, as well as contemporary and lesser-known works. There are also opportunities to hear the organ alongside other instruments, including the Svyati Duo and University of Huddersfield Brass Band.
4. Make an afternoon of your visit
The concerts start at 1pm, with food available at Huddersfield Town Hall from 11.30am.
This makes it easy to combine a concert with a visit into Huddersfield town centre, whether you are meeting friends for lunch, doing some shopping or simply enjoying an afternoon out.
5. It’s an affordable way to enjoy live music
Tickets for the organ concerts are just £6, making them an accessible way to experience live music in one of Kirklees’ best-known historic venues.
There are 15 organ lunchtime concerts in the 2026–27 season, with an organ package also available for those who want to attend the full series.
