Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival 2019
hcmf// is an annual, international festival of contemporary and new music, taking place over 10 days and consisting of approximately 50 events – including concerts, music-theatre, dance, multi-media, talks and film – with a related Learning and Participation programme devised and implemented to reflect the artistic programme and respond to regional need.
hcmf// aims to provide life-changing and unique artistic experiences to as wide an audience as possible; to be an international platform for new music and related contemporary art forms in Britain; to enthuse existing audiences and draw in new ones through adventurous programming and informed, stylish presentation, and to be an active cultural partner within the region.
Encompassing concerts, films, talks, installations, exhibitions and family events.

Dick Whittington
Following the success of last season’s production of Aladdin, the Arts Group are proud to be presenting another fun-filled pantomime with Dick Whittington and his faithful cat, Tommy, setting out to make their fortunes. Aladdin was a sell-out production so make sure you get your seats booked early!

Allison de Groot & Tatiana Hargreaves in Meltham
Drawing on the roots of old time and bluegrass, this exceptional duo features two gifted young musicians who are already leading lights in the new generation of American roots music.
Talented Canadian banjoist Allison de Groot has made a name for herself as a member of Molsky’s Mountain Drifters and The Goodbye Girls (alongside Molly Tuttle).
Tatiana Hargreaves is a phenomenal fiddler based in North Carolina, who has toured with luminaries including David Rawlings, Gillian Welch and Bruce Molsky. She also played on Laurie Lewis’ Grammy nominated album The Hazel And Alice Sessions. Together, Allison and Tatiana create a scintillating, foot-tapping sound, with powerful songs and beguiling tunes.

Slow Stitch Sunday in the Byram Art & Design Studio
Take a couple of hours for yourself this Sunday mid-morning and join maker, Nicola Twynham, in exploring the experience of Slow Stitch. The process of hand embroidery and appliqued fabric offering a mindful and calming environment in the Byram Art and Design Studio.
The session will provide a welcoming and tranquil work space and all the materials needed to develop your own piece of hoop art in a small group. Suitable for beginners and more advanced embroiderers.
Celebrating Circles. Using circle templates we will explore applique and stitch using circles to build up abstract images in this session, exploring the meaning that can be produced with just one shape.

Huddersfield Winter Festival
Huddersfield Live brings a little magic to Huddersfield by way of beautiful festive tipis adorning on St George’s Square with a traditional bar, festive food and coffee area all surrounding a blazing open fire. It’s a place to relax and have fun. Daytime activities include children’s crafting, Baby Zumba and Pantomime workshops.
There’s entertainment from local artists with live music, spoken word, open mic nights, theatre performances and networking events. Outside in the Square on some days, there are other enjoyable things happening. The theme of this year is ‘Belong’- we don’t want anyone to feel lonely at this time of year so come along and it wouldn’t be long before you feel like you ‘belong’.
