Secondary school admissions – don’t miss out
If you are applying for a secondary school place for September 2023, remember the deadline is approaching fast.
Applications need to be made for children who are currently in primary school Year 6. The deadline for an on-time application is 11.59pm on Monday October 31st.
Parents are strongly advised to apply for three schools: a first, a second and a third preference. This is in case a place is not available at the first preference school. It’s also advised that one of these schools is in your priority admission (catchment) area.
Applications received after the deadline are not considered until after all on-time applications have been processed. So applying late can severely reduce the chances of getting a place at one of your preferred schools.

Apply online using the Kirklees Parent Portal. All the information, including about catchment areas, can be found on the council website.
