Mondays at the Museum to continue supporting residents’ mental health
‘Mondays’ at the Museum’, a project that supports residents’ mental health and wellbeing, has secured additional funding from the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board.
To date, the project has received a total of £42,865 which will take the project into March 2024.
A holistic approach to mental health support
‘Mondays at the Museum’ was developed in collaboration with Local Services 2 You and over 20 local groups. It has already supported 3,329 residents within the first 12 months. This demonstrates the demand for a holistic approach to mental health and wellbeing.
Based at Tolson Museum, the project offers activities to improve wellbeing. These include yoga, Tai Chi, gardening, walks, music, parent and child walk and talks, museum in a box, and creative activities. Our Social Prescribing Link Workers are there throughout the day to provide support to combat social isolation and loneliness. Sessions typically run from 11am – 3pm.
Tolson Museum is a supportive and relaxed environment. This provides the ideal setting for individuals to connect to specialist services, agencies, and professionals for their own health needs.
Tackling social isolation in communities
The additional funding received by lead anchor Local Service 2 You, ensures the partnership can continue to tackle individual needs, social isolation and improve mental health and wellbeing in our local communities. It will give people the tools they need to help themselves all the while alleviating some of the pressures on our health partners.
Social Prescribing
Social Prescribing Link Workers are based at Tolson Museum every Monday. They work alongside GP practices in Kirklees to offer free, non-clinical support to people struggling with their mental health.
On Monday’s, Tolson Museum is open from 10am, with wellbeing activities taking place 11am-3pm.
