Knowl Park House – Build update November 2023
Here’s the latest from our new dementia day care build in Mirfield.
What’s been happening?
We start with the plant equipment that has been lifted into its final position on the roof of the building.
Contractors have started on screeding the floors and have now completed the trenches to take services up to and into the new building. Drainage is being installed in the courtyard before the paths and planters are created and work has also started on installing the kerb for the main access road. As the scaffolding is removed, the curtain walling (glazing) is being worked on.
Work on the mechanical and electrical installation and drylining (a form of cladding for internal walls, and sometimes ceilings, to prepare them for painting or covering) has progressed and contractors are due to start work on the plastering.
Work on the roof has finished which means the scaffolding can be removed.
Next up…
Contractors will complete the screeding works and install the underfloor heating in some areas.
External doors will be fitted and the main utilities to the building will be connected. Plastering the internal walls and ceilings will continue.
The second fix mechanical and electrical installation will be starting soon. Second fix is everything that takes place after the plastering is finished. It includes connecting the fixings, such as toilets and basins, and fixing the electrical features to the cables.
